Does Apple Repair Include Weekends

I just took my dead MBP into an Apple Shop for repair... this is the third time that they're fixing it. The showtime two were dorsum in October '07; now we're in August 08. I asked about a new machine or a loaner; they were firm on saying no on both counts.

How many times practise they become to repair it before they have to replace it?

In the past I've heard that the 3rd time you bring it int for the same issue, they'll supervene upon it. "The same issue" is the fundamental to that. If you feel yous should be getting a replacement at this point, think apple care and ask to talk to a client service rep and calmly explain your position.

They've all been display issues; this time the display just died (no epitome on internal or external display). In previous times it was artifacts on the brandish, etc. So I guess non technically the aforementioned consequence (artifacts vs. completely expressionless), only certainly related. This will exist the 2d time they've replaced the logic board.

It's an MBP 2.2, btw. I'chiliad starting to wonder if the NVIDIA bit issue is affecting Macs too....

Apparantly the 8600M's have a 100% failure rate. Mine but died the other day.

Usually 3 repairs admits you lot for a complete swap out.

In the past I've heard that the tertiary time you bring it int for the same issue, they'll replace it. "The same issue" is the key to that. If you feel yous should be getting a replacement at this point, call up apple care and ask to talk to a customer service rep and calmly explain your position.

Given it was a good 5 years ago, but thats what happened to me. I had the exact same effect stock-still 3 times, and after asking some pointed questions about it, I was able to go a new organisation.

Follow up question: when apple says '3 to 5 days' for repair, does that mean concern days, or days? (e.yard. do they do repairs on weekends?)

I'm currently on Day 6, but two of those accept been weekend days.

Apparantly the 8600M's take a 100% failure charge per unit. Mine just died the other 24-hour interval.

All hardware has a 100% failure rate on a long enough timeline.

The answer seems to be totally random..

Random? No.

It'southward as many times as they call back they can get away with before you lot kick upwardly a nasty fuss in one of their stores in public.

Same for any company.

I had a lemon and it took 4 trackpad failures to go a new macbook.

Does anyone know if they'll give you lot a shop credit instead of giving you a replacement motorcar?

I had my 2 year old iMac repaired four times last year, twice for the screen, once to become the case replaced because it was damaged by the apple tree store during the second screen replacement, and so my difficult bulldoze crapped out.

My screen has been flickering since it was replaced the second time, I but haven't bothered bringing it in to become fixed over again. I still have a yr left on my applecare.

What I'm hoping is because this is the tertiary time for the screen, and 5th time having to bring it in to exist repaired, if they'll replace the machine. What I would adopt, is to get a store credit so I tin can put it towards the purchase of a new Macbook Pro.

Has anyone been given a shop credit instead of a replacement?
